I’ll make this quick. Because I know you are busy.
Most every leader I’ve ever talked to is …busy.
Full plate. Too much going on. Doing the balancing act. Juggling too many balls. Trying to keep all the plates spinning.
Pick your metaphor of choice.
Now let me expand your vocabulary (perhaps) and challenge you (most likely).
quiescence.
It is a noun that means “A state of rest, inactivity, or quietness.”
When were you last in that place?
Do you believe you can become a highly effective/remarkable leader if you don’t visit this place regularly?
….
We value our busy-ness, we take pride in it, answer the question of”how are you doing” by sharing that badge of honor. And yet we know if we don’t take time to reflect and have some quiescence in our lives we can never be as successful as we wish to be.
I urge you to create “A state of rest, inactivity, or quietness” in your life today.
You’ll be a better leader – and a better human because of it.
(Thanks to http://wordsmith.org for their wonderful Word of the Day emails – this was today’s word.)
I am not sure how to pronounce this word correctly
Rightly said so, Kevin!
Not sure if others will agree with me but I can say it for myself – unless I take time to relax, think through things and feed myself back – I cannot perform *better* next time…
